About Me

Kevin – Mr Poochman

I may be preaching to the converted; nevertheless, I must state that, in my experience, living with a dog can be very rewarding… for many reasons.

Notwithstanding the fact that looking after dogs properly can be quite demanding in terms of commitment, a little directed effort will be repaid in spades with unreserved and unconditional love freely offered over many years. Add in the numerous other benefits in terms of health, personal wellbeing and the distinct feel-good factor that sharing your life with a dog can bring

So, when you make the decision to share your life with a dog, you want to do a good job…right… both for you and yours and especially for your canine chum. When making this commitment, sometimes life can get in the way; you want/ need a break/holiday or you feel that your dog would benefit from different routine that you cannot readily maintain on your own, for whatever reason. That’s where I can help.

I am a long-term dog lover who has been owned by many canines of different varieties over the last 35 years (English Springer Spaniel (Jess), Lurcher (Cher), West Highland Terrier (Mavis), Golden Retriever (Nala), Puggle/Bulldog cross (Dexter), German Shepherd/Fox Terrier cross (Angus) and Puggle (Daisy).

Presently, my life is shared with Otto the Shepherd/Boxer cross and Annie the Shepherd/Terrier cross. Otto is a large boy, loving, sometimes wussy, sometimes brave, with a serious case of FOMO; Annie is nicknamed “Annie Badger”, a moniker illustrating the fact that, just like a Honey Badger, Annie doesn’t give a stuff about anything! She also answers to “Anniekin Skywalker” as sometimes she’s a bit of a space cadet!

Some 13 years ago I had the opportunity to offer my experience and enthusiasm to both help lighten the load on owners and enrich the lives of their canine chums. I did not have to think twice. Voila…Pooch Walk Calgary NW and latterly Mr Poochman’s Pooch House were born.

I am committed to consistent, quality service for both clients and pooches alike. I guarantee that all animals in my care are treated as I treat my own; with patience, affection, respect, and a recognition that they are individuals. I have a real connection with dogs. I enjoy being in their company and I pride myself in establishing and maintaining positive and productive relationships with them (and their owners too, of course! :-)). To reinforce this I always undertake a thorough consultation with owners to ascertain their dogs’ personality; likes and dislikes; behavior traits and any areas of concern or issues that may affect their dog whilst they are with me.

In short, I offer professional yet personal pooch care services to discerning clients in Calgary.

In support of my commitment and as an added comfort I am insured with PROfur, have been Police checked and have been regularly certified in Pet First Aid by Walks ‘n’ Wags.
